Boarding at Fido and Fern

Are you heading out of town and don't want your dog to stay in a loud, hectic kennel? Come stay with us! We offer a unique stay option for dogs of all types. Generally boarding is limited to maximum 2 dogs at a time.

Your dog will live with me and my dogs at our home. We have daily playtime in the yards and orchard, stuffed kongs/enrichment toys, and cuddle time - all included.

The main front yard is just over 1/4 acre, fully fenced. Our training field is about 1/2 acre, fenced, and the Orchard field is a full acre (of course also fenced!) allowing your pup lots of time to roam, run, play and explore. All yard/play time is supervised by myself.

  • Boarding and Play $95/night -For dogs who are able to be social off leash with other dogs (with property introduction over time)

  • Reactive Solo Boarding: $150/night - For dogs who need individual play and exercise, or who may have some behavioral challenges.

  • Boarding with Training $225/night - Come home to a pup with new skills and better manners! In addition to play and hanging out, your dog and I will have 3-4 training sessions each day. You’ll receive a written summary of the skills your pup has worked on, and a lesson to transfer those skills at pickup. Send me message and let’s talk about the details of your goals and pup.

Extras

Does your dog have extra energy to burn? Or want them to have new experiences on vacation too? There’s more adventure here at Fido and Fern for them to join in on!

  • Redwood Romp n Hike $20 - Adventure hikes out in the redwoods on the property, on a long line. There are trails, a creek, and natural spring to explore and run through.

  • Swim Lesson $20 - Pool time learning to swim or retrieve.

Board and Train Programs

  • Reactive Pup Kickstart -2 week Board and Train Foundation PLUS the full Reactive Pup program of 5 lessons together, and online course - $3900

    • In the first two weeks, I’ll teach your dog the foundation skills that are so crucial for behavior training success. Clear marker words for communication together, cues for cooperation (place, come, heeling), improving attention, confidence building and play skills for mental and physical energy outlets, and learning. We’ll then meet for the full Reactive Pup training program for individual lessons both at my training location and out in the real world.

    • Reactive Pup boarding programs are best suited for dogs that are leash reactive, but non-aggressive when off leash

  • Reactive Pup Jump Start - 3 week Board and Train Foundations PLUS full Reactive Pup program of 5 lessons together, and online course - $5200

    • All the same training as above plus an additional week of outings into the real world to begin teaching your dog how to see other dogs calmly, and look back to you when they see another dog.

  • Adventure Dog Skills - 2 week Board and Train foundation PLUS 5 lessons together - $3750

    • Are you ready to go adventure out in the world, but your dog needs an extra boost to have the skills to join you? Let’s get them ready to go live their best life! We’ll teach marker words for clear communication, place and stay, recall foundations, and leash skills for hiking. We can even customize your dog’s training program for the types of adventures you’ll be heading out on - backpacking, vanlife, climbing, biking, or even just how to chill at a coffee shop on those rest days.

Why both boarding and lessons? I’ve found that long-term, lasting behavior training success needs to include both your dog learning new skills and ways to feel about their triggers, AND for their people to learn how and when to help, how to handle the real world with all of it’s surprises and changes and to really understand their pup and what how training works. Behavior training isn’t just ‘fixing’ something in a couple of weeks, it’s a process of learning new habits and practicing new ways of engaging with the world.

Notes

All dogs must be up to date on all vaccines and flea/tick medications. Intact dogs are boarded separately. All dogs must be crate trained prior to their stay to reduce their stress while boarding. Crates or kennels are used to give them times to rest as needed.
